10 Ways to use Digital Mystery Pixel Art in your Middle School Math Classroom

As you already know, I love mystery pixel art. I’ve come across so many teachers who want to start with pixel art in their classrooms, but aren’t sure how they can use it. There are many different ways to incorporate mystery pixel art into your middle school math classroom. Here are some ideas just for you

1.Content Review

Use mystery pixel art activities that review key skills learned in class. This can be at the end of the unit or chapter, or any time in-between when skills need to be built on. For example, if you are working on simple equations using fractions, you may want to review fraction operations.

Start your lessons with a mystery pixel art challenge related to the day's topic to grab students' attention and activate their prior knowledge.


3. Exit Tickets 

Use mystery pixel art as a formative assessment tool at the end of a lesson or unit. Students can answer questions or demonstrate their understanding. Do be aware though, that you will need to allocate enough time for students to finish, or chose a shorter activity with less questions.
